Aim - The main objective of this study is to investigate the use of paraphrasing in writing, as practiced by graduate students, which are strictly strict at a university in Thailand in English.
Methodology / Technology - The research data has been collected from several sources, including a questionnaire survey, semi-structured interviews and written orders of the students. The participants print students at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Khon Kaen University. The parrined texts of the students were analyzed with a coding scheme adapted by Campbell (1987), Keck (2006), Keck (2006) and SHI (2004). The coding scheme focuses on the text transformation that has been further analyzed to hold the original meaning of the paraphrased text.
Findings - The results show that students generally had a solid appreciation and understanding of paraphrasing and plagiarism at a conceptual level. However, students have made clear mistakes if they are required to paraphrase. In many cases, their lack of skill and knowledge to vote of plagiarism led to a significant number of respondents. Finally, greater attention should be brought to educate graduate students, how to reduce the plagiarism to reduce the plagiarism and improve the standard of academic writing. The results of this study provide advantageous knowledge of the practical practice of the graduates in Thailand; This understanding can promote improved paraphrase standards between students.
Novelty - This study specifically relates to the examination of perception, knowledge and paraphrasing typology of students english in a foreign language context.
